Photography Club

Postby David_M on Wed Dec 03, 2008 3:43 pm

I wonder if there are other people in the village who would be interested in forming a club centred around an interest in photography.

It would be good to get interested people together and set out the aims of the club based on what individuals would like to do. I would prefer it to be open to photographers of all levels and not ‘stuffy’ in the way that I get the impression camera clubs can be.

Some of the things I thought might be good to do are:

• to talk about the hobby
• to share skills, knowledge and interests
• to help develop skills in taking and processing digital images
• to learn about composition and camera technique
• to share images for learning purposes.
• to organise photographic meets at local or more distant sites

and I’m sure there are many more.

If you like this idea please register your interest by leaving a reply on this post.

Best wishes

Something my partner suggested was having a picture of the month to be displayed on the homepage of the website, with there being a particular theme for each month. If you get a photography club up and running, perhaps this is something you could get involved with?

That sounds like an excellent idea, Sarah, and it could act as a great stimulus for the group.

Thank you for that.

Hi David,
Last year the Village Hall held a series of digital camera and computer courses sponsored by Devon County Council they also provided the resources for internet access and a digital projector. If your club gets going please feel free to use the equipment in the Village Hall.
For more info phone the Post Office (see business page)

Hello David
I wondered whether the club would like to get involved with taking pics of the nominated Village Treasures for an exhibition in the church in October. Some members may already have pictures of some of the items nominated. Would you be very kind and give me a ring on 779628 please.
Many thanks
Gill

Just a quick update.

As a result of Gill's message above we have a small group of people working on the Village Treasures project which will hopefully form the basis of a Photography Group. It would be great to have more people to make the group thrive. Do contact me if you have an interest.
