Getting to and from Bishopsteignton

Loading...

Bishopsteignton is situated between Teignmouth and Newton Abbot, and is easily accessed from the main A381 road linking the two towns. You can zoom in and out, and move around on the map above to see the local road network.

Local Buses

Bishopsteignton is served by a number of different bus services. A regular service (approximately every half hour during the day) runs between Newton Abbot and Exeter, stopping at various points along the A381 (Newton Abbot Road). A timetable for this service can be found at StageCoach Service 2. An additional service to South Devon College in Paignton also runs along the A381 (term time only). A timetable for this service can be found at StageCoach Service 84.

Additionally there is a service running through the village (along Fore Street/Forder Lane)roughly every 2 hours between Teignmouth and Newton Abbot (via Kingsteignton). A timetable can be viewed at Country Bus Service 184.

Connecting services to nearby towns, such as Torquay, Paignton and Totnes, can be made from Newton Abbot.

Trains

The mainline between London and Penzance runs along the outskirts of the village, but Bishopsteignton does not have a railway station. The closest station is at Teignmouth, where services are available to and from Exeter and Paignton (including intermediate stations). For longer distance travel, you may find Newton Abbot station more convenient as there are direct connections to many stations, including London, Bristol, Totnes, Plymouth, Penzance and Birmingham. Arriving in the area by train is a particularly scenic way to travel, since the railway line from Exeter travels alongside the Exe Estuary, then hugs the coastline between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth, before running up the Teign Estuary to Newton Abbot. Rail services are run by a number of train operating companies, but all timetables can be checked at National Rail Enquiries.
