Bishopsteignton Parish Council
About Bishopsteignton Parish Council
The Parish Council represents the community and has a general responsibility in promoting the interest of the village (and the wider area including Luton). Its areas of responsibility include footpaths and bridleways, some recreational land (including the Lawns), play areas, cemeteries and maintenance of the Village Green. It also has a vital role in commenting to Teignbridge on planning applications and in liaising with the District and County Councils on their areas of responsibility, such as traffic and highway issues and the Conservation Area. The Parish Council needs to ensure there are efffective Parish and Emergency Plans and that it can provide relevant input to the Strategic Plans of Teignbridge and Devon. It is likely that the roles of the Parish Council will continue to grow with the increasing localisation of community resources and services.
The Parish Council raises money through the Council Precept which is collected as a very small part of the total Council Tax. The Council sets the level of the Precept on an annual basis.
